Alex Rider Wiki

Wolf was a popular leader. He was tough and he was fast, completing a forty-kilometre hike as if it was just a stroll in the park. But he had a weak spot. Somehow he'd allowed this parachute jump to get the better of him and he was too scared to move

—Alex regarding Wolf's fear of the parachute jump

Wolf is a member of SAS, who was in training at the same time as Alex Rider.[1]

Role in Series

Wolf is the team leader of K-Unit, the four men in SAS training at the Brecon Beacons. Wolf is quite nasty to Alex and goes out of his way to tease him, calling him Double O' Nothing. It is mentioned that Wolf speaks Russian like it is not his second language. Wolf even made Alex fail when they were doing a practice mission in the SAS. Eventually, Alex pushes Wolf out of the plane when K-Unit go for an exercise because Wolf is afraid of heights. He later thanks him for that and they became friends.

Point Blanc

Alex met Wolf again near the end of his second mission, when MI6 brought SAS in, to save the captured children at Point Blanc Academy. By this time Wolf had finished his training and was the leader of the SAS rescue unit. Wolf ended up saving Alex's life, by shooting Eva Stellenbosch who was about to kill Alex.[2]

Ark Angel

Wolf sent Alex a card whilst he was in St. Dominic from Baghdad

Never Say Die

Wolf appears again in the eleventh book where he is under the name of Ben Daniels, (even though this name was affiliated by Fox in Snakehead. At one point Wolf reminds Alex of their time invading the oil rig, meaning that Wolf was actually Fox in the book,) and he just joined M16. He saves Alex Rider from drowning below Needle Point. They go together to try to decipher what Steel Claw was and what the Grimaldi Brothers were plotting. At one point he was almost fired by Tulip Jones, (who was now head of M16 after Blunt was fired,) for putting Alex Rider solo into the Grimaldi's headquarters.

Differences in the TV series

Season One

Wolf's actions deviate from Point Blanc in that he is assigned to torture Alex before the Point Blanc Academy raid. He interrogates Alex and puts him through audio and water torture, pretending to want Alex to betray MI6, trying to ensure that Alex won't crack under pressure during the actual operation itself. Wolf's subordinates convince him to stop the torture, but after their deliberations they realize that Alex had already escaped. After a brief chase, the test ends and Wolf goes to Mrs. Jones to demand information about why he was made to torture a child. He gets little, but is later brought in on the operation to raid Point Blanc, and works with Alex during the raid. However, he does not save Alex from Eva Stellenbosch, as in the books, but rather she dies in an explosion while Wolf captures Dr. Greif.

Physical Appearance

Wolf is a short, muscular man, in his mid-twenties with square shoulders and black, close-cropped hair. He has cold dark brown eyes and a handsome face, made slightly uneven by his nose, which was broken at some time in the past.

  • In Never Say Die Wolf says his real name is Ben Daniels, this contradicts Snakehead where FOX says he is Ben Daniels.
    • According to Wikipedia: "In post-2010 editions of the novels, Wolf is retconned to be the same character as Ben Daniels, who in earlier editions is the identity of "Fox"."
